MY VIEWS: February 2010

Yesterday some bizarre thing happened with me. I was about to finish all my tasks and call it a day; suddenly then my cell started beeping. I think the mobile phones are just like new born babies. When we want to attend to them they are absolutely switched off and when we want to have ‘me time’ they are the no.1 guest, of course the most unwelcome one. So I was left with no other option but to attend to my baby. There was a message by one of my friends which read like this: “I am sorry to send this message. If you love your mom then send this message to 10 people except me. One girl didn’t send; her mom died 365 days later. I LOVE MY MOM.”
At 11p.m somebody is teaching me how to love your mom! I was left stunned! The first thing that came to my mind was if loving your mom was so pathetically easy then why the hell I am struggling so much in life like a fool? All I needed to do was just send some ‘lucky’ sms to some ‘chosen’ ones and benefit some ‘messiah’ mobile operator that too just like a ‘by-product’. Holy crap! Look at the extent to which we oversimplify things; or is this a new ‘avatar’ of our beloved technology that we are ready to hail?
Certainly, we live in an age of constant irony. On one hand, we have ‘reel’ life idiots and on the other hand, we have ‘real’ life idiots. On receiving such a message my prompt reply read like this: “Grow up, sweets. Such an illogical behavior is not expected at least from educated people like you. Your common sense can only prevent others from exploiting your emotions, more precisely your fear!” After sending this reply I was feeling little better that I at least had some nice retort for my baby which was disturbing me with its nonsense. But to my bad fate, it refused to relent. It started beeping again. My friend’s reply read like this: “In such cases I prefer being an idiot. You do what you wish. I did what I felt. That’s it. Take care. Good night. Sweet dreams.” Sometimes I pity the words that we use so irresponsibly like this: You sms somebody at 11p.m telling them that you have a super formula to express your love for your mom and then tell them that you are being a ‘cult’ for such idiots. In the end you ask them to take care of themselves and you wish them a good night and sweet dreams. If I really sought a good night then there was only one way out and that was to reply once again. My reply read like this: “Dear, if you want to be an idiot then be like the greatest idiot of 3 idiots, the great Rancho. Otherwise what’s the use of our education? Don’t be so weak intellectually. Be strong. Be sharp. Just a friendly advice.”
I think I was very tough on my baby this time for a change. But it fetched me an excellent response this time. It just stopped beeping. It had stopped bothering me all at once after my iron-fisted reply. But I must say thanks to my naïve baby to make me realize that my parents have not wasted their time and money on my education. It felt so good. I too oversimplified things and reassured myself that this gesture of mine was more than enough to prove my love for my mom and make her proud of her ‘extraordinary’ idiot in the world of ‘just’ idiots. Now I can easily have a good night and sweet dreams. Goodbye, my nagging baby. I LOVE MY MOM!
